Lionel Messi’s kind act took the internet by storm when he helped a young fan escape security after the supporter stormed onto the pitch to take a quick selfie.
A young fan jumped over the barriers and ran towards Messi on the pitch with his mobile phone camera on. This happened on Saturday night at Chase Stadium, where Inter Miami was playing against Charlotte FC in an MLS match.
The famous Argentine player spotted him early, smiled at the boy and posed for a selfie with him. At the same time, security guards quickly ran onto the pitch to take him away. When the guards approached, Messi told the boy to run and even gave him a little push on the back to help him get through.
At the time, Inter Miami was having a tough time beating a tough Charlotte FC team. They were trailing before the hour mark, but Messi’s heroics meant Tata Martino’s team had something to show for their hard work before they left the field. When Messi scored the goal, he lit up the field with a celebration that looked like Iron Man. The crowd went wild with cheers.
