Golden pearls are extremely rare and valuable, prized for their unique color and lustrous shine. They are formed inside certain species of oysters and clams, such as the Pinctada maxima and Tridacna gigas. These pearls are created when a foreign object, such as a grain of sand or a piece of tissue, becomes lodged inside the mollusk. The mollusk then secretes layers of nacre around the object to protect itself, creating a pearl.

Finding golden pearls inside old blood clams is particularly unusual, as these clams are not typically known for producing pearls. However, it is not unheard of for pearls to be found inside these types of clams. The discovery of these golden pearls in my dish was a happy accident, and I am grateful for the opportunity to witness such a rare and beautiful phenomenon.
