The beauty of the garden makes your heart flutter.

In the Garden

Do you guys remember The beauty of the garden makes your heart flutter.those pincushion flower seeds I started a while ago that I put to pasture outside because I noticed some dampened off? I have had them outside for almost a month now. They’ve been out there in freezing temps and would you believe that some motored on and grew?

Yes!!! I never dumped out the cell trays and just left them outside. So note to self, don’t toss them right away. I do not regret moving them outside at all but I’m glad I didn’t bother to dump them out yet!

Seed Starting Update

So far, everything that I’ve sown indoors from seed is doing great! I was not expecting Floret’s dahlia seeds to germinate so soon and they did!

I’m going to start hardening off my snapdragons this week so I can make room and have a little less work for myself when I harden the rest of these off. They are cool season flowers, so they can start that process now.

Last week, I planted all of my sweet peas and perennial seed starts that I winter sowed. This is seriously the most wonderful time of the year!

Podcast Alert!

My good friend Lana Stenner from the Grace-Filled Homestead featured me on her podcast last week! We chatted all about gardening, homesteading, and ways to enjoy growing flowers! You can listen to it here.

I am spending a lot of time now in the beds and planting. Here’s what I bought this week!

  • Epsom salt for my newly planted roses.
  • Fish emulsion for when I start feeding my seedlings. This is great to use if you prefer a more organic fertilizer for plants in general anyway!
  • A few more frost covers since I am going to plant out much sooner than the frost date this year and I want to be prepared!
  • Another bottle of dormant oil.
  • And of course, more deer repellent! It seems I never have enough!

I also did a little spring boho dress shopping! And I’m loving the looks!

  • I have this one already and it is one of my favorites!
  • I love love love everything about this boho dress and bought it in this shade!
  • This one is really pretty too. But it definitely needs a belt.
  • I have this one in a few colors! It’s really comfortable and looks great when paired with a denim jacket.
  • And I love this bag!
