The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo wants Vinicius to learn from Lionel Messi about “fair play” when he attends the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony.
Real Madrid received 3 nominations at the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony. The titles they won were “Best Men’s Club of the Year” and “Top Scorer of the 2023/24 Season” for Mbappé and “Best Coach of the Year” for coach Ancelotti. And yet, Vinicius and Bellingham came second and third respectively in the race for the Ballon d’Or.
But in the end, ‘Los Blancos’ opted to boycott the 2024 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony by not having any faces appear at the awards ceremony. For his part, Vinicius also took to social media to respond to his failure to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or: “I will do 10 times more than this. They are not ready for that yet.”
Real Madrid stars only appear on the screens of the organizers of the 2024 Ballon d’Or
The newspaper Mundo Deportivo did not value Vinicius’ behaviour. The Spanish newspaper wants the Real Madrid star to know Messi’s attitude:
“Messi has attended the Ballon d’Or ceremony many times even though he did not win the title. Previously, the winner of this award was also notified separately a few days in advance so that the organisers could schedule a photo session.
It is clear that Messi left many lessons of fair play in the history of the Ballon d’Or. But in the end Vinicius did not learn anything.”
Messi has seen Ronaldo win the Ballon d’Or many times
Specifically, Messi attended the Ballon d’Or awards ceremonies despite knowing that he was not honored in 2007, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017.
Among other developments, the Daily Mail and Goal believe that Barcelona acted to “turn things around” over Real Madrid’s absence from the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony. The Camp Nou home team wrote on social media:
“We are truly honoured to be present at the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony. Thank you to the organisers for their warm welcome.”
Meanwhile, Sevilla Club has publicly mocked Real Madrid: “We want to announce the latest news, that the club will not go to Paris because we have been informed that no Sevilla player will win the 2024 Ballon d’Or.”
