If you love animals that look a little unique, then you’re going to fall head over heels for this stray cat that’s on the hunt for a home.
Known only as Yoda cat, the cute kitty has gone viral on social media after a woman shared several sweet photos of her.
Veterinary Assistant, Jana Aviles from North Carolina met the cat at work and instantly became smitten with her and there’s a good reason why.
Instead of being on top of her head, the cat’s ears seem to stick out to the side, which is why she’s become known as Yoda cat.
However some people couldn’t help but notice that she also looks a little like another pop culture character – Dobby the house elf from Harry Potter.
Jana wrote: “I met this little cutie while working at the vet yesterday. She was brought in by a rescue after she was found as an injured stray.
“She is so cute, like have you ever??”
More than 4,000 people shared the post with over 3,000 commenting, with many people divided over whether she looked more like Dobby or Yoda.
One person proclaimed: “BABY YODA KITTEN!”
Another replied: “Everyone has mentioned Yoda, but all I can think is Dobby the Housecat.”
While someone else referenced Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, saying: “This cutie needs to be given a sock.”
Jana later shared an update revealing that the reaction to the cat had been overwhelming.
“There is only ONE Yoda cat, so there is only ONE home out there for her,” she said. “So many people have offered to travel across the country to adopt this cat, and even people from other countries have reached out to me.
“There are 70 million stray cats just in the US. 4 MILLION cats are brought into animal control facilities each year, and 1.4 MILLION of those cats are euthanized each year due to lack of homes.”
She added: “Everyone please check your local shelters. I guarantee you that your new best friend is waiting for you as I type this. Yoda cat may look cool, but looks aren’t everything.”
It’s not currently clear which rescue centre the little cat is at or whether she has been adopted yet – but what we do know is that there are plenty of others out there still in need of forever homes.
