Frank van Meel, CEO of BMW’s M GmbH division, doesn’t hold back when asked what we can expect from the first full electric performance vehicle from BMW’s in-house hot shop: “It will beat everything you have ever seen,” he says with a smile. Expected to debut in 2026 or 2027, M’s first high-performance EV will be based on BMW’s forthcoming Neue Klasse sedan. It will share the Neue Klasse’s platform but will feature four e-motors and software designed to deliver supercar levels of performance and handling.
