Meet the cat who, after 400 days of adoption waiting, has at last found a home.

Four hundred days is a long time to wait for a new forever familybut that’s just how long Champas, a scruffy white tom cat, waited as he lived at a shelter for more than a year.

Shy with a big tendency to hide in the shadows and avoid interactions with other, this adorable guy wasn’t exactly being showcased to families looking for the next member of their family.

And so the staff at the home, which is the Animal Welfare League NSW in Australia, hatched a plan.

They actually assigned him a job.

Having been there at the League since December 2015, Champas became the receptionist.

Along with a staff member, he carried out the various duties of a good intern – posting letters, answering phone calls and keeping on top of lots of admin, I assume – all while searching for love.

And to assist him with a few, er, communication issues, the staff came up with their own handwritten campaign (little cardboard signs) which advertise him as a ‘single white male looking for love’.

Or for those who might be seeking a professional, ‘Office cat with impeccable credentials! – CHAMPAS.’

According to the folks ar LoveMeow, the new role soon helped him come out of his shell.

And not before long he found a brand new someone – a man named Nathan, who said via the shelter:

‘To everyone who is wondering what happened to Champas the long term resident of Kemps Creek – he came home with me today, and after biting my hand went straight to sleep.’

Who doesn’t love a happy ending?
