Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder: A Comparative Analysis of Height, Weight, and Reach Stats

Deontany Wilder and Anthony Joshua, two of the best heavyweight boxers and former champions, seem to be on a collision course. Wilder is coming off a vicious KO win over Robert Helenius and Joshua had a lackluster victory over Jermaine Franklin in his last bout. With the two rapidly running out of big names to fight, matching them together seems to be the best course for both parties.

After beating Franklin, Joshua revealed that he would return to the ring in December of this year. In a recent video released by iFL TV, Joshua was asked whether he would be fighting Wilder or not. A smiling AJ sounded optimistic about the prospects of it as he said, “That’s what’s happening.” However, he also clarified that it was not a done deal. While fans are waiting with bated breath for the contest, let’s find out the size, weight, and height difference between the two.

Anthony Joshua vs Deontany Wilder: Weight, reach, and record difference

Anthony Joshua held the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, and IBO heavyweight titles before losing them to Oleksandr Usyk in their series of fights. AJ currently holds a professional record of 25-3. Deontay Wilder, on the other hand, held the WBC heavyweight title before Tyson Fury beat him in their epic trilogy. Wilder currently has a professional record of 43-2-1.

But, between them, AJ is the more accomplished boxer with a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics. Wilder got the bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics, despite being a relative rookie. Now, with years of experience between them, the potential bout is going to be entertaining for sure. Fans can expect it to look similar to what Wilder’s fights against Tyson Fury looked like.

AJ is the better and more fluent boxer of the two, while Wilder will rely on his power to get the finish. According to BoxRec, AJ stands at 6’6 and has a reach of 82 inches. At the same time, Wilder stands at 6’7 and has a reach of 83 inches. So the Bronze Bomber will definitely have a size advantage over Joshua, should the fight come to pass.

In terms of weight, for his second fight against Usyk, AJ weighed in at 244.5 lbs. But for the first contest between the two, Anthony was slightly lighter at 240 lbs. However, in his last fight against Jermaine Franklin, AJ came in at 255.4 lbs, which was significantly higher than his previous two fights against Oleksandr Usyk.

Deontay Wilder, for his first contest against Tyson Fury, weighed in at 212 and a half lbs. For the second contest, the Alabama native tipped the scales at 231 lbs, and in the trilogy fight, 238 lbs. But, in his last fight against Helenius, Wilder weighed in at 214 and a half lbs. While Wilder is the taller fighter, AJ is certainly much more muscular and will have a weight advantage. But as the fans have seen, Wilder packs a punch despite his weight.
