There are many families that have fled war-torn Ukraine and sadly, a lot of them are leaving their pets behind, most of them have no choice.

Thankfully there are still many people left in the cities that have taken it upon themselves to care for these poor creatures that have no idea how to fend for themselves.

In this video we meet a kind lady who has spotted a cat all alone in the street.

Many people were passing him by but she stopped to say hello.

As she bent down to give him a stroke he began to play, it was obvious that he was not feral and must’ve been left behind by a family, so she went off to get him some food.

He was very hungry so it didn’t take long for him to finish the plate. While he was having a clean the lady decided that the best option would be to get him off the streets to try and give him a better life.

This beautiful kitty was covered in fleas and his fur was very matted.

He also had dental problems, which was probably due to the hard life he was experiencing on the street.

He was very calm when they gave him a bath with flea shampoo, this was something that he must’ve experienced before – a feral or stray cat would definitely not like having a bath!

She named him Baton and took him home.

His life had definitely changed for the better, he now had a warm cosy bed, plenty of toys and lots of love.

But now it was time to find him, with the help of social media, a new forever home.

He is such a beautiful kitty that it didn’t take long to find someone to adopt him.

We are so happy for Baton as he begins a new chapter in his life.
