Dolphin with sunburn receives “Horrible Injuries.”

A dolphin that suffered a severe sunstroke after being schooled in Scotland has been seen ALIVE after a ‘miraculous’ escape.

Spirtle, a female dolphin, was left with “horrible” injuries after spending hours trapped on a sandbar in the Cromarty Firth.

She was seen on May 29 with a couple who got lost while traveling to a dolphin-watching spot in the Moray Firth.

Dr Andrew Brownlow of the Scottish Rural College told the BBC the seafarer was “lucky” to escape with life.

“This couple wanted to go to Chanonry Point and got lost,” he said.

“They misread their map and ended up on the Nigg Peninsula. This whole region dries up almost completely and they saw the dolphin flapping in the mud.”

Brownlow led an urgent mission to get the dolphin out to sea together with a team of diʋers from British Diʋers Marine Life Rescue and Scotland’s SCPA.

Normally, this would have been the end of the story.

But the dolphin was seen again and its wound appears to be healing.

It is now expected that she will continue to have sex and make a full recovery, although there is no way of knowing what the outcome of her story will be.

BarƄara Cheney, a researcher at AƄerdeen Uniʋersity, said: “We haven’t seen anything like this before. It’s a pretty unique case and hopefully we’ll be able to continue to keep an eye on her.”
